General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has set social media abuzz after posting a bold and intriguing tweet on Wednesday evening, revealing that he is holding Eddie Mutwe, the longtime head of security for National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
In his tweet, Gen Muhoozi stated that Mutwe is currently with him and learning Runyankore, the native language of the western region of Uganda.
“I captured NUP’s military commander like a grasshopper (Nsenene),” Gen Muhoozi tweeted. “If they keep on provoking us, we shall discipline them even more.”
The post came shortly after Bobi Wine announced that Mutwe had been picked up by armed men in SFC (Special Forces Command) uniform in Kiwango village, Mukono District. He said the men were driving a Toyota van, commonly known as a “drone.”
Gen Muhoozi’s response was swift and direct.
“I can’t release Eddie now. It will be unfair to me and him. He is learning Runyankore and we are both training for Kabobi (Bobi Wine),” he tweeted.
He went on to describe Mutwe’s current condition, saying: “Eddie is looking very smart these days. The boys have tuned him well. He salutes Mzee’s picture every day before breakfast.”
The tweets have since generated widespread engagement across social media platforms, with thousands reacting, quoting, and sharing the posts.
Although Eddie Mutwe’s exact whereabouts remain unconfirmed by authorities, Gen Muhoozi’s tweets appear to offer a direct account of the situation from his perspective.
This development adds a new twist to the ongoing exchanges between the General and the opposition, drawing renewed public attention as the political landscape continues to evolve.
At the time of publishing, neither the Uganda Police Force nor the military had issued an official statement confirming or denying Mutwe’s whereabouts.
