Police are hunting for an 18-year-old suspect accused of fatally stabbing a traditional healer following a dispute over Shs 2,000 in the early hours of Wednesday, May 8, 2025.
The incident took place at around 1:20 AM in Kito Cell, Matugga. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango identified the deceased as 45-year-old Isa Bisobolwa, a known traditional healer in the area. The suspect, Richard Mutyaba, is currently on the run.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the two had been living together and were last seen the previous evening at Mama Naka Bar in Matugga. The disagreement reportedly escalated when Mutyaba accused Bisobolwa of failing to account for Shs 2,000. During the altercation, Mutyaba allegedly stabbed Bisobolwa twice — once in the neck and once in the stomach.
“The victim was rushed to Wanda Health Center but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival,” Onyango confirmed in a statement.
Police have since opened a murder case, documented the crime scene, and transferred the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing.
Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that may assist in locating the fugitive.
