Hon. Alice Karamuzi Kaboyo, a respected stateswoman and reformist, has once again stepped up to serve — this time answering the call of Uganda’s senior citizens. Declaring her intention to contest for the position of Member of Parliament for Older Persons, Central Region, for the 2026–2031 term, Kaboyo has ignited a wave of support from across the region.

Her announcement is not a political surprise — rather, it is a logical and welcome continuation of a career defined by public service, national healing, and community revitalization. With a steady hand and a compassionate heart, Hon. Kaboyo has long been a trusted face in Uganda’s governance, especially in post-conflict regions where she has championed recovery, reconciliation, and socioeconomic growth.

“For me, this is not about politics. It’s about purpose,” she said in her declaration. “Uganda’s older persons deserve more than acknowledgement — they deserve leadership that fights for their health, their livelihoods, and their legacy.”

Currently, the State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister overseeing the Luweero Triangle and Rwenzori Region, Kaboyo’s leadership has brought tangible results to communities often overlooked. Under her guidance, critical government programs have reached thousands of civilians, especially veterans and survivors of Uganda’s turbulent past. Her ability to manage complex regional portfolios while delivering on core social services speaks volumes about her administrative strength and integrity.

Her new bid is widely seen as an elevation of her mission, from rehabilitating communities to now safeguarding the dignity of Uganda’s elderly at a national legislative level. And with her deep understanding of policy, history, and grassroots realities, Kaboyo is uniquely positioned to be the voice older persons have long waited for.

Community leaders and civil society organisations have welcomed her candidacy as timely and deeply needed. “Hon. Kaboyo is not stepping into new territory — she’s expanding her circle of care. She has already done the work. Now she wants to do even more,” noted a senior elder from Luwero.

Her agenda is bold yet grounded: enhancing access to age-friendly healthcare, increasing economic opportunities for senior citizens, strengthening legal protections, and promoting intergenerational dialogue that values wisdom and preserves cultural identity.

Hon. Kaboyo’s campaign is not simply a promise — it is a reaffirmation of who she is and what she stands for. With her legacy of integrity and delivery, Uganda’s older persons are not just being promised representation — they’re being offered real leadership.

As the 2026 elections approach, one thing is clear: Hon. Alice Kaboyo is not just running for office — she’s rising to duty. Again.
