Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, senior presidential advisor dubbed army boss has issued a series of strong statements on social media directed at European Union ambassadors who recently met with National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine.
In a post that quickly gained widespread attention, Gen. Muhoozi captioned a photo showing EU diplomats in a meeting with the opposition leader:
“This is an Abomination! @EUinUG is really playing with fire. Sawa!”
In a follow-up tweet, Gen. Muhoozi further expressed his concern over the meeting, stating:
“We have MARKED all of them — especially the one shaking Kabobi’s hand.”
The use of the term “Kabobi” — a colloquial reference to Bobi Wine — underscored the General’s firm stance on the matter. While the EU and NUP have yet to issue formal responses to the statements, diplomats suggested that the meeting was part of a series of regular engagements with political stakeholders in Uganda.
As Uganda approaches another critical election cycle, Gen. Muhoozi’s messages appear to emphasize the importance of loyalty and stability. In one of his more emphatic tweets, he warned:
“In this coming election, the Bazungu in our country who do not support Mzee wholeheartedly better be very careful! We will deport all the traitors in public view!!”
“Mzee,” commonly understood as a term of respect for President Museveni, signifies a call for clear alignment with the leadership of the country.
The tone of the tweets suggests a deepening sense of scrutiny toward foreign involvement in Uganda’s internal affairs, especially as the political landscape begins to shift in anticipation of the 2026 elections.
Although no official EU reaction has been issued, observers note that the message comes at a time when relations between Uganda and some Western entities are being tested by evolving political dynamics.
