Kyeswa Hakim, the NRM Publicity Secretary for Mukono District and an aspirant for the position of NRM National Vice Chairman, Central Region, has issued a compelling call to action in the wake of recent local election victories. His statement, titled “Victory Achieved, Greater Battles Ahead: Stand Firm for Liberation,” underscores both the momentum of young leaders in the party and the need for vigilance as they prepare for the upcoming Delegates Conference.
In his message, Kyeswa celebrated the victories secured by youthful leaders across the Sub-county, Municipality, and District/City elections, describing them as proof that “the future belongs to the bold.” He praised the resilience of grassroots supporters, noting that their determination had overcome considerable obstacles.
“This is your triumph,” he stated, “but it is only the first chapter.”
Looking ahead to the August Delegates Conference, Kyeswa positioned himself as a candidate committed to championing the voices of the youth within the party. “I stand to represent our generation,” he declared, promising to ensure that the NRM’s leadership remains responsive to the needs of all Ugandans. “I am committed to amplifying your voices and fighting for a party that serves all people, powered by the energy and vision of youth.”
He also warned against the dangers of political complacency, calling on delegates to resist any attempts at bribery or manipulation. “Expect whispers of temptation—those clinging to power will dangle money, false promises, and shortcuts,” he cautioned. Kyeswa urged delegates to remain true to their convictions, highlighting the grassroots strength that has propelled the party forward.
“Our liberation is non-negotiable,” he emphasized, framing the generational struggle as both a moral imperative and a political mission.
Kyeswa’s emergence as a leading advocate for renewal within the NRM has resonated with many who see the party at a critical juncture. His message calls for a return to the party’s founding principles and a renewed emphasis on inclusivity and accountability.
“Delegates, you are the guardians of this movement,” he concluded. “From village committees to the national stage, your courage lights the path. Together, we will purge incompetence, reclaim the NRM’s soul, and build a legacy worthy of our people.”
As the NRM’s August Delegates Conference approaches, Kyeswa’s call for unity and integrity is poised to shape the conversation around the party’s future—and the role of young leaders within it.
