Africa Rises: Global Icons Maponga, Kimathi & Dr Waka Waka To Storm Kampala For PAP’s 8th Pan-African Awards

By Our Reporter

Kampala is poised to become the epicenter of Pan-African unity as the Pan-African Pyramid (PAP) announces its 8th Global Awards and 11th Anniversary Dinner, set to take place on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at the Fairway Hotel. Themed “One Africa, One Passport (USA – United States of Africa),” this momentous occasion aims to amplify the call for continental unity, African dignity, and true socio-economic liberation.

Comrade Andrew Irumba Katusabe, PAP’s founding speaker and chairman, emphasized that this year’s celebration represents more than just an anniversary. It marks a significant milestone in the struggle for African self-determination and a revitalization of shared continental consciousness.

“This is not merely a dinner,” Irumba stated. “It is a Pan-African declaration. We are here to reignite the flame of resistance, dignity, and self-worth. We must speak as one Africa, move with one purpose, and organize for lasting liberation.”

A central focus of the event will be honoring His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, who was recognized by PAP in Ouagadougou earlier this year. Traoré has become a contemporary symbol of revolutionary leadership, echoing the enduring legacy of Captain Thomas Sankara and his vision of a self-reliant, liberated Africa.

The awards will also serve as a tribute to Africa’s fallen heroes—Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Nkrumah, Muammar Gaddafi, Steve Biko, Malcolm X, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Amílcar Cabral—revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives in the fight against imperialism and for the dream of African sovereignty.

Among the keynote speakers expected to grace the Kampala stage are Bishop Joshua Maponga Marara III from Zimbabwe, a prominent theologian and champion of African cultural revival; Dr. Hughes Pierre, popularly known as Dr. Waka Waka, from Chicago; and Ayo Kimathi, known globally as The Irritated Genie, from Washington DC. Their presence will infuse the gathering with diverse perspectives drawn from across the global African diaspora, reinforcing the spirit of unity and purpose.

The event will commence at 2:00 PM and run until late, with attendees encouraged to wear PAP-branded T-shirts or traditional African attire to express pride in their heritage and solidarity with the Pan-African cause. It invites Africans from all walks of life and across ideological lines to come together, reflect, and recommit to the shared vision of continental emancipation.

Dinner cards are available in four tiers: Platinum at 3 million UGX for a table of eight, Gold at 1 million UGX, Silver at 500,000 UGX, and Bronze at 150,000 UGX. Reservations can be made by contacting +256 757 342 317 or +256 782 342 317 (both available on WhatsApp), or by emailing panafricanpyramid@gmail.com.

According to PAP organizers, this gathering is more than a social event. It is a movement, a statement of resistance, and a promise to the ancestors who envisioned a united and free Africa. In the words of PAP, “Africa—don’t agonize. Organize.”
