In a dramatic and symbolic move, Busoga Princess and seasoned political mobilizer for HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Ms. Kyanika Rehema on Friday, June 27, officially picked nomination forms at the NRM Secretariat in Kyadondo, confirming her entry into the race for National Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League.
Dressed in her signature elegance and accompanied by a spirited team of supporters, Rehema’s arrival at the party headquarters was more than just procedural—it was a powerful declaration of intent. With cameras flashing and chants of “Mama Rehema” echoing in the air, the princess-turned-political contender cemented her place in what’s shaping up to be a fiercely contested election.
“This is not just about picking forms—it’s about picking the future we want for Ugandan women,” Rehema said moments after completing the nomination process. “We are here to claim our space, amplify our voices, and lead with purpose.”
Currently serving as the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Regional Coordinator for Busoga Subregion, Rehema has long been a behind-the-scenes strategist and mobilizer. Her decision to formalize her candidature now places her on the national radar as a fresh face with grassroots credibility.
The move kicks off what many see as a transformative campaign built on empowerment, mentorship, and economic advancement for women. Rehema emphasized that her leadership would be grounded in action, not tokenism.
“I thank the party leadership for upholding democracy and giving women like me the chance to step forward,” she said. “My nomination marks the beginning of a journey for all women ready to lead boldly and serve selflessly.”
Her declaration comes at a time when the ruling party is preparing for its internal elections, with the Women’s League chairmanship seen as a critical pillar ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Rehema is expected to face stiff competition from incumbent Lydia Wanyoto, Faridah Kibowa of the National Women’s Council, and Kampala businesswoman Adrine Kobusingye.
But on this day, at Kyadondo, the spotlight was firmly on Princess Rehema—her nomination form in hand, and a vision for a more inclusive and powerful women’s movement in her heart.
