The winds of change are sweeping across the Central Region as Hon. Samuel Begira, a dynamic, bold, and ideologically driven young leader, emerges as the front-runner in the race for the NRM Youth MP flag bearer. Widely referred to as “the hope for the youth, the voice of the voiceless, and a champion of empowerment,” Begira is fast becoming the rallying point for a new generation of politically awakened Ugandans.
Under the powerful slogan “Better Together!”, Begira’s campaign is not just a political bid—it’s a national movement rooted in unity, productivity, and shared purpose. He is not running alone. He is walking with the youth, hand in hand, heart to heart, fueled by a belief that the future belongs to those willing to lead it.
“It’s not just about politics—it’s about hope, unity, and a shared dream for a better tomorrow,” said Begira during a campaign stop in Lwengo. “When we vote, we choose love for our country, faith in each other, and belief in our future.”
From Grassroots To Greatness
Begira’s rise has been anything but conventional. He has earned his stripes by rising through school leadership, community structures, and youth engagement programs—not backdoor endorsements or political inheritance.
In recent months, Begira has taken his campaign directly to the people, traversing districts like Kayunga, Kyotera, Sembabule, Butambala, and Lwengo, not with luxury convoys or big rallies, but with tangible support—cocoa seedlings, farm tools, and hands-on training for rural youth groups.
“We must begin to see farming not as a last resort, but as a frontier of innovation and independence,” he told a youth gathering in Lwengo.
His ability to merge practical empowerment with civic education has struck a chord with grassroots voters. Social media is already abuzz with photos and videos of Begira’s outreach, with his viral campaign poster becoming a symbol of hope for many disenfranchised youth.
A New Dawn For Youth Politics
With most previous Central Region Youth MPs drawn from elite political circles, Begira is turning that legacy on its head by championing inclusive participation. He has boldly warned young people against voter apathy in internal elections, calling it the “fertilizer for recycled leadership.”
“Your vote is your future,” he told students during a youth policy dialogue in Gomba. “We must nominate, vote, and ensure our voices are heard at every level.”
Begira is also proposing bold policy shifts: start-up capital for youth entrepreneurs, skill-based scholarships, reforms to protect young innovators, and enhanced maternal health investment. His Mother’s Day outreach in Mukono earned praise for highlighting the role of women in national development.
“Empowering mothers is nation-building. A society that neglects women’s welfare cannot achieve sustainable development,” Begira told the gathering.
A Movement, Not Just A Campaign
According to political analyst Julius Matovu, Begira is “the most ideologically clear candidate in the race.” His focus on patriotism, productivity, and spiritual values has helped galvanize support from both urban and rural delegates.
“We believe in Samuel because he listens. He doesn’t promise heaven. He gives us tools, ideas, and purpose,” said a youth coordinator from Butambala.
Sources inside the NRM youth structures suggest Begira’s surprise surge has forced traditional power brokers to rethink their strategies. “What was thought to be a two-man race is now wide open,” one insider revealed.
With the 2021 NRM primaries having been won with just 780 votes, Begira’s campaign team is targeting at least 1,200 delegate contacts by nomination week—a clear sign of confidence in the growing wave around his candidacy.
Though the official list of candidates is still pending from the NRM Electoral Commission, one thing is clear: Samuel Begira is not just in the race—he’s redefining it. His campaign is setting a precedent for youth-focused, issue-driven politics that resonate far beyond Central Region.
