Western Uganda is witnessing an unprecedented wave of political mobilization as Tuhaise Prosper Kururagire, the Mbarara District NRM Chairman, emerges as a towering force behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 2026 re-election bid. The influential grassroots kingpin, known for his unapologetic loyalty to the ruling party, is leaving no stone unturned — deploying personal resources, rallying local leaders, and orchestrating mass mobilization campaigns across the region in support of the NRM’s topmost commander.
Kururagire, who has now been christened by locals as “Museveni’s Vote General in the West,” is said to be splashing millions of shillings to fuel what he calls a “Vote Museveni to Secure Our Future” movement — an aggressive operation that spans the entire western corridor, from Kigezi and Ankole to Tooro and Bunyoro.
“This is not just politics. This is a national calling,” Kururagire revealed in an exckusive interview with Swift News. “I have committed everything — my time, my energy, and my money — because President Museveni is not just a leader. He is a pillar of Uganda’s peace, prosperity, and progress. The West will not let him down.”
Museveni: A Statesman Above The Rest
Kururagire did not mince words when contrasting Museveni’s decades-long leadership with what he branded a “clueless, divided, and delusional opposition.” He scoffed at opposition figures who are pushing for regime change without any clear roadmap for Uganda’s future.
“These opposition actors are shouting in echo chambers, making empty promises they know they can’t fulfill,” he charged. “Museveni is tested. Museveni is proven. Museveni is unmatched. We cannot hand this country over to people who are still trying to figure out how leadership works.”
He pointed out that unlike the opposition’s reliance on emotion and populism, the NRM under Museveni is grounded in structured policy, transformative development, and long-term vision.
“While they promise change, President Museveni delivers results. He gave us peace after chaos, infrastructure after ruins, and dignity after despair. How can anyone with a functioning brain even attempt to compare him with the confused characters in the opposition?”
From Cash to Cadres: A Grassroots Juggernaut
Kururagire’s campaign style is no-nonsense. His outreach strategy combines financial muscle with ideological mentorship. In each district, his team is facilitating community barazas, youth seminars, boda-boda summits, and farmer engagements — distributing campaign materials and support packages to local influencers, all under a well-oiled NRM grassroots network.
Reliable sources reveal that Kururagire has also mobilized hundreds of youth into “Museveni Loyalty Brigades,” tasked with countering anti-government propaganda and amplifying the President’s track record on social media and local radio airwaves.
As Uganda inches closer to the 2026 general elections, Kururagire’s fervent efforts signal that the NRM is determined to tighten its grip in regions that have historically delivered massive support for the party. His campaign is not just about votes; it’s about cementing a legacy and blocking what he calls “reckless political adventurism” being peddled by rival camps.
“We’re not playing. We are securing the future of our children. President Museveni represents wisdom, resilience, and vision. The opposition? They represent noise, confusion, and nothingness.”
