“You’re NRM’s Icon In Western Uganda”: President Museveni Praises Tycoon Prosper For Outstanding Youth Leadership

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has applauded Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire for his unwavering commitment to the party and his remarkable personal sacrifices that continue to strengthen the NRM’s foundation in Mbarara and beyond.

Speaking during the recent NRM National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at State House, Entebbe, the President singled out Prosper as an example of the new generation of young leaders carrying forward the party’s mission with energy and conviction. Museveni recalled watching a program on TV West where Prosper’s powerful voice and clarity of vision caught his attention.

“I saw a young person there speaking. I didn’t know him, but when he mentioned his name, I knew he was a son of one of our old members, Kururagire Prosper. Then I looked for the boy, a young leader, a young powerful leader, and I congratulated him,” Museveni remarked.

Prosper is no stranger to the NRM fraternity in Western Uganda. As NRM Chairman for Mbarara District, he has not only mobilized grassroots support but also went further to build, single-handedly and from his own resources, a fully-fledged NRM office in Mbarara, a landmark achievement that stands as a testament to his loyalty and personal sacrifice for the Movement.

“Wherever I go, I see these young people. They are coming up now as members of parliament, flag bearers, chairpersons in the districts. These young people will defend the NRM,” Museveni said, highlighting Prosper and his brother as prime examples.

Prosper’s political journey is widely admired in the region, not just because of his family heritage but because of his hands-on investment in building party structures and mentorship of fellow youth in politics. His efforts have earned him recognition as one of the most influential young NRM leaders in Western Uganda.

As the ruling party positions itself for future political battles, voices like Prosper’s, rooted in sacrifice, loyalty, and service, signal that the NRM’s future is in capable hands. His legacy in Mbarara, particularly the establishment of the district party office, is already being spoken of as a model of personal dedication to the cause of the Movement.
