Prof. Lawrence Muganga, the Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, is mourning the loss of his beloved mother, Mama Immaculate Kayonga, who passed away on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, plunging family, friends, and the wider community into deep sorrow.

In a deeply emotional letter titled “Letter to My Dear Mother in Heaven,” Prof. Muganga poured out his grief, love, and gratitude, describing the day of her passing as “the most difficult day of my life.” With moving words, he reflected on the pain of loss while drawing comfort from his faith, noting that heaven had gained a saint.

He spoke tenderly of his mother’s reunion in heaven with her late husband, daughters, parents, and loved ones who passed on before her, painting a picture of joy beyond earthly sorrow. “Losing you feels like losing the center of my world,” he wrote, describing Mama Immaculate as his hero, strength, and greatest inspiration.

Prof. Muganga praised his mother’s life of generosity, compassion, and unwavering faith, recalling how she welcomed everyone, helped those in need without hesitation, and lived a life devoted to service and prayer. He affirmed that her values live on through her children, Lawrence, Vivian, Hellen, Emeltha, and Sebastian and her grandchildren, who he said remain strong and committed to carrying forward her legacy of love and selflessness.

Despite the heartbreak, he expressed hope rooted in faith, taking comfort in the belief that his mother now rests in eternal peace in the presence of the Lord she served faithfully.
