The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and Senior Presidential Advisor/Personal Assistant (SPA/PA), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has called on Ugandans to turn out in large numbers and vote for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate and incumbent, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in the forthcoming general election.
Speaking at the ONC headquarters, Namyalo applauded Ugandans for the overwhelming support they have shown President Museveni throughout the campaign period, citing the massive crowds that have attended his rallies across the country.
“I appreciate and thank you all for the love you have shown our dear National Chairman, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” Namyalo said. “The turnout at the campaign rallies has been impressive. What we now need is to translate those numbers into votes on polling day.”
She urged supporters to report to their respective polling stations on January 15 and cast their ballots correctly to avoid invalid votes. Emphasizing peace and unity, Namyalo called on Ugandans to participate calmly in the electoral process, noting that voting was essential to safeguarding the country’s stability and development gains.
“As a way of thanking him for driving Uganda steadily, let us come out in even bigger numbers and award him another full term,” she said.
The ONC headquarters has in recent days become a hub of activity as preparations intensify for the election, particularly in the area of vote protection. Namyalo revealed that the office has already commenced training vote protectors to ensure that ballots cast in favour of President Museveni are safeguarded.
“I want to assure all peace-loving Ugandans and Museveni’s supporters that no one will steal their votes,” she said. “We are more than ready to guard his victory.”
Her remarks come amid renewed statements by President Museveni alleging that votes were stolen from him during the 2021 general elections, claims he has previously directed at the opposition.
Last week, the ONC officially flagged off a Vote Protection Taskforce at its headquarters, underscoring the office’s expected coordination role as the NRM pushes for a strong showing at the polls.
