Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is in Tanzania today for a one-day working visit aimed at deepening diplomatic ties and expanding economic cooperation between the two East African neighbours.
President Museveni arrived in Dar es Salaam earlier today and was received by his host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House. The visit follows an announcement made on Friday by the Directorate of Presidential Communications at State House, which indicated that the Ugandan leader would travel to Tanzania for high-level bilateral engagements.
Shortly after his arrival, President Samia led the Tanzanian delegation in joint talks with the Ugandan delegation headed by President Museveni. The discussions focused on strengthening long-standing relations between the two countries and advancing shared economic and development priorities.
A key item on the agenda is cooperation in the energy sector, particularly the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The project is viewed as a strategic regional investment expected to deliver significant economic benefits to both Tanzania and Uganda, as well as the wider East African region.
The two leaders are also expected to deliberate on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, including trade facilitation, security cooperation, and infrastructure development. These discussions underscore the commitment by both governments to regional integration and collective approaches to development challenges.
President Museveni’s visit highlights the close ties between Kampala and Dar es Salaam and reflects ongoing efforts by both countries to reinforce political cooperation and unlock new opportunities for shared growth.
