The Manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has extended Ramadan wishes to Muslims across the country, urging them to embrace the holy month as a period of repentance, discipline and spiritual renewal.

SPA Namyalo, who also serves as Political Assistant to the NRM National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, described Ramadan as a sacred season that offers believers an opportunity to strengthen their faith, moral values and connection to Almighty Allah.

“Ramadan is a period of repentance, self-reflection and forgiveness. It is a time to renew our spiritual commitment to Almighty Allah and to embrace good morals, unity and compassion,” she said in her message.

Quoting the Holy Qur’an, Hajjat Namyalo cited Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183): “O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you, that you may attain righteousness.”

She said the verse highlights the purpose of fasting as a pathway to piety and self-discipline.

She further referenced Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185), which states: “The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.”

According to SPA Namyalo, the verse highlights Ramadan as a month of divine guidance and reflection.

“Fasting is not merely abstaining from food and drink; it is about purifying the heart, controlling our actions and strengthening our obedience to Allah,” she said.

She also quoted Surah Az-Zumar (39:53): “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah.” She said the verse serves as a reminder that Ramadan is a month of hope, forgiveness and renewed beginnings.

The ONC Manager encouraged Muslims to use the holy month to promote peace in their homes and communities, to extend charity to the less privileged, and to pray for stability and continued progress for the country.

“As we fast and pray, may Allah accept our supplications, forgive our shortcomings and grant our nation peace and prosperity,” she said.

Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting from dawn to sunset, is expected to commence globally upon the sighting of the crescent moon, with the holy month projected to begin in the evening of February 17 or 18, subject to official confirmation by Islamic authorities.

It is regarded as a period of heightened worship, charity and reflection.
