The NRM Revolutionary Network (NRN) has called on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat to urgently clarify the authenticity of a document circulating on social and mainstream media that allegedly endorses Anita Among and Thomas Tayebwa as the ruling party’s official candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th Parliament.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the network said the document, purportedly a Central Executive Committee (CEC) resolution and allegedly signed by NRM National Chairman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the party Secretary General Richard Todwong, raises significant institutional concerns.
According to the statement, the controversy stems from earlier reports this year suggesting that the CEC had endorsed Among and Tayebwa. However, the NRN noted that the NRM Secretariat did not at the time provide a documented resolution confirming the decision. The party’s Legal Directorate later clarified that no formal endorsement had been made, despite the duo reportedly meeting the National Chairman at his country home.
The network further said the newly circulating document appeared after repeated calls for transparency, describing its emergence as occurring under “questionable circumstances.” Preliminary scrutiny by the group, it said, revealed irregularities including grammatical inconsistencies and signatures that appear materially different from those typically seen on official party instruments.
“If the document is authentic, the Secretariat must formally release it through proper party communication channels,” the statement said, adding that if it is fraudulent, it would represent “a dangerous attempt at forgery and institutional sabotage.”
The NRN emphasized that the alleged forgery of official party resolutions—particularly those bearing the name and signature of the National Chairman—would constitute a serious attack on the integrity of the ruling party and undermine the discipline that has guided the movement for decades.
The group called for three immediate actions: an official clarification from the NRM Secretariat regarding the authenticity of the document; a formal investigation if the document is found to be fraudulent; and renewed commitment to transparent communication on matters of major institutional importance.
The NRN reaffirmed its loyalty to the ruling party, saying it remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of the movement’s internal processes. It stressed that the future of the NRM must be anchored in discipline, transparency, and institutional credibility.
