A young lady has sparked heated debate online after revealing she is contemplating canceling her wedding just weeks before the event.
The post, shared on Facebook by Awesome Family, describes her shock upon learning about a disturbing “family tradition” that her fiancé expects her to follow before the marriage.
She shared that wedding preparations were already underway, and she was excited about the upcoming ceremony. However, during a conversation about their future, she learned something that left her stunned. What she initially thought was a joke turned out to be a serious expectation.
According to her, her fiancé revealed that, in his family, there is a tradition where his father must physically “verify” her purity the night before the wedding, in the presence of other male relatives. This disclosure made her feel deeply uncomfortable and violated.
She described her feelings in the post:
“I’m staring at my wedding dress, and for the first time in months, I don’t feel like a bride. I feel like a stranger in my own life. My wedding is just two weeks away… my heart was so full until last night.
…He told me that his father needs to physically ‘verify’ my purity the night before the wedding, with other male relatives present.
…I asked him, ‘Are you serious? You want me humiliated like this?’ He said it’s a mark of honor and that if I truly loved him, I would accept this ‘small sacrifice.’
…Now he is begging, but is this really small? How can everything be perfect if my dignity is at stake?
…If I agree, I lose myself. If I refuse, I might lose him. Should I honor this tradition, or is it a red flag I cannot ignore?”
The post has generated strong reactions online, with many condemning the reported tradition and advising her to prioritize her safety and self-respect.
