As Ugandans continue to follow the ongoing corruption investigations involving the former Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, and several other individuals both within and outside Parliament, one message is becoming increasingly clear: the fight against corruption can no longer be postponed.

Public concern has grown over the extravagant lifestyles displayed by some public officials — lifestyles characterized by excessive luxury mansions, fleets of expensive vehicles, and unexplained wealth that appears inconsistent with known public earnings. Such developments naturally raise serious questions about accountability, transparency, and the responsible use of public resources.

There was a time when leadership in Uganda was viewed as a noble calling to serve the people. From local council leadership to Parliament and the civil service, public office was associated with sacrifice, patriotism, and integrity. Unfortunately, over time, some individuals have turned public positions into opportunities for self-enrichment at the expense of taxpayers and ordinary citizens.

Today, corruption has infiltrated various levels of government, from grassroots leadership structures to central government institutions. Many Ugandans seeking jobs and services continue to face exploitation through bribery, favoritism, and abuse of office. This situation undermines public trust and slows national development.

As Bazzukulu and committed members of the NRM, we wish to reaffirm our full support to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa in the ongoing fight against corruption. The President’s leadership under the “Kisanja Hakuna Mchezo” vision sends a strong signal that public servants must prioritize service delivery, accountability, and patriotism above personal gain.

District Service Commissions and all government institutions must recruit and serve Ugandans fairly, transparently, and without demanding bribes from job seekers or citizens seeking public services.

As we move through this new term of leadership from 2026 to 2031 and beyond, we remain committed to supporting all efforts aimed at eliminating corruption in all its forms. A corruption-free Uganda is essential if we are to achieve sustainable socio-economic transformation and attain middle-income status that every Ugandan can proudly identify with.

We also appreciate the continued efforts of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, in promoting patriotism, discipline, and national unity. Together, we believe that with collective commitment and responsible leadership, the NRM government can deliver improved services to citizens in an environment free from corruption and sectarianism.

For God and My Country.
