Finally: State House Clarifies On Status Of RDC Jobs, Breaks Silence On ‘Nationwide Changes’

    By Swift Reporter

The Office of the President has issued a strong warning to the public over rising cases of fraudsters allegedly moving across the country, soliciting money from individuals with promises of securing them appointments as Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), Deputy RDCs, fRand Assistant RDCs.

The caution was issued by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, who emphasized that there are currently no vacant positions within the RDC structure and no recruitment or reshuffle exercise underway.

According to Kakande, all positions for RDCs, their deputies, and assistants are fully occupied, and the current officeholders remain constitutionally mandated to continue performing their duties.

His remarks come in the wake of speculation that followed the announcement of a new Cabinet last month, which fueled public rumors suggesting that the President might be preparing a nationwide reshuffle of his representatives at district, city, and division levels.

However, the Office of the President has dismissed these claims, stating that no such changes are expected in the near future.

Speaking to UBC, Hajji Kakande urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to individuals demanding money in exchange for influence in government appointments.

“People should not pay money to conmen for RDC jobs. Positions are already filled, the holders are currently serving, and there will be no changes in the meantime. There are no lists for now, and if there are changes to be made, it will be in a few cases and mainly about those who are not disciplined,” he said.

Kakande further defended the current RDC leadership, noting that they have been actively performing their duties, particularly during the recent election period.

“The RDCs are already in office and doing a good job. They did a great job during elections, and to that effect, no changes are coming,” he added.

He also called on RDCs, Deputy RDCs, and Assistant RDCs to focus on promoting the government’s development agenda under the “Kisanja No Sleeping” message, urging them to work closely with elected leaders in sensitizing communities on wealth creation and development programs.

On the issue of salary enhancement, Kakande explained that planned salary adjustments for RDCs and their deputies have been postponed to the 2027/2028 financial year. He noted that government resources were instead prioritized to address long-standing salary concerns for Arts teachers.

“We had wanted to increase salaries of RDCs, Deputy RDCs and Assistant RDCs in this financial year 2026/2027, but we agreed to first fulfil the demands of Arts teachers who have for a long time demanded a pay rise matching that of scientists. That is why the RDC salary enhancement has been carried forward. In the 2027/2028 financial year, we will definitely increase salaries for RDCs, deputies and LC V chairpersons,” he said.

The Office of the President reiterated its call for the public to disregard any unofficial recruitment claims, stressing that all legitimate government appointments are communicated through official channels.
