The Office of the National Chairman (ONC), under the leadership of National Coordinator Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, on Tuesday continued its empowerment tour across the Greater Luwero sub-region, beginning with engagements in Nakaseke Town Council where several beneficiaries shared inspiring stories of transformation through government wealth creation initiatives.

The tour highlighted the impact of empowerment programs championed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through the ONC, with beneficiaries crediting the support for improving household incomes, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening community livelihoods.

One of the beneficiaries, Balwanyi Jane, recounted how ONC support enabled her to establish a thriving poultry farming enterprise.

Jane revealed that she received 200 chickens through an ONC empowerment initiative, which she successfully expanded to a flock of 500 birds through proper management and hard work. However, she explained that last year her husband fell ill, forcing the family to sell part of the flock to meet medical expenses.

Despite the setback, she currently maintains more than 400 chickens and remains optimistic about the future of her business.

“I thank President Museveni, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo and the ONC team for empowering us. The support has greatly improved our livelihood and enabled us to generate income for our family,” Jane said.

She, however, appealed for government intervention to address water scarcity in the area, describing it as a major challenge affecting both residents and farmers in Nakaseke.

Another beneficiary, Senabulya Michael, a progressive farmer from Nakaseke Saza Zone, attributed his agricultural success to support received from the ONC.

Senabulya, who owns more than a hectare of coffee gardens, said he currently earns between Shs7 million and Shs8 million per month from coffee sales. In addition to coffee farming, he operates poultry, fish farming, tomato growing and other agricultural enterprises.

He disclosed that three years ago, ONC provided him with 200 chicks and 15 sacks of poultry feed, enabling him to establish a commercial poultry project.

Inspired by President Museveni’s wealth creation message under the Musevenomics philosophy, Senabulya later ventured into fish farming. Starting with approximately 200 fish, he now has more than 4,000 fish in two ponds.

“Last week I harvested and sold over 400 fish. Every six months, I sell more than 500 fish at Shs15,000 each,” he said.

The farmer currently employs five workers, each earning a monthly salary, contributing to job creation within the community.

However, he pointed to shortages of fish nets, fish feed and poultry feed as some of the key challenges affecting his expanding enterprises.

While interacting with beneficiaries, Hajjat Namyalo pledged to engage relevant government agencies, including Operation Wealth Creation and Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, to mobilize additional support and essential agricultural inputs for farmers.

She encouraged beneficiaries of government programs to make productive use of the support they receive and actively participate in wealth creation initiatives aimed at improving household incomes.

“Government empowerment programs are meant to transform lives. We encourage beneficiaries to remain committed, hardworking and focused on creating sustainable sources of income,” Namyalo said.

The tour also highlighted the success of Nabitaka Ruth and Nantambi Rose, who transformed a single sewing machine received during a youth empowerment event at Kasala Parish Playground in Luwero District into a growing tailoring business.

The pair revealed that the sewing machine enabled them to generate income, eventually allowing them to acquire a second machine and expand their operations.

Today, the business supplies school uniforms under various contracts, produces garments for individual clients, and employs six workers. The enterprise has also become a training center where young people acquire tailoring skills.

“We started working from home, but today we operate from rented premises and our business continues to grow. We are grateful to President Museveni and Hajjat Namyalo for giving us this opportunity,” the beneficiaries said.

They appealed for an embroidery machine to help expand their production capacity and take on larger contracts.

The ONC tour across Greater Luwero continues to showcase the impact of Museveni’s wealth creation initiatives, with beneficiaries citing increased incomes, business growth and employment opportunities as evidence of the program’s success.

As the tour progresses, Hajjat Namyalo reaffirmed the Office of the National Chairman’s commitment to monitoring beneficiaries, addressing challenges affecting productivity, and ensuring that government empowerment programs continue to transform lives across the country.
