The Tooro Kingdom has dismissed reports claiming that Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is critically ill and receiving treatment in an intensive care unit in the United States.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, the Kingdom described the reports circulating about the health of the 34-year-old monarch as “false and misleading.”
The Kingdom reassured the people of Tooro and the King’s supporters that His Majesty is in good health and is currently abroad for official engagements and to further his studies.
The clarification comes after reports circulated alleging that King Oyo had been hospitalised in the United States over cancer-related concerns. The reports also claimed that his mother, Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, was in the US receiving treatment for an unspecified illness.
However, the Tooro Kingdom has rejected the claims concerning the King’s health and urged the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels.
“We wish to reassure all our people that His Majesty is in good health. He is currently abroad for official engagements and to further his studies,” the Kingdom stated.
The Kingdom further warned against what it described as malicious rumours and defamatory misinformation, saying such reports create unnecessary anxiety and undermine public trust.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to providing timely and accurate information on matters concerning the institution and the wider Tooro community.
The Kingdom has called for unity and responsible communication as the people of Tooro continue to build the kingdom.
“Let us work together to promote truth, unity and responsible communication as we continue building the Tooro we all desire,” the statement said.
The clarification effectively puts to rest the circulating claims that King Oyo is in an ICU in the United States, with the Kingdom maintaining that the monarch is well and abroad for official engagements and further studies.
