The General Court Martial (GCM) at Makindye in Kampala has discontinued charges of aiding and abetting kidnap of Rwandan refugees against former Police Standard Unit Commandant SSP Nickson Agasirwe.

Chaired by Brig. Gen. Robert Freeman Mugabe, the GCM withdrew the charges on Monday (March 5, 2024) against Agasirwe and six other Senior Police officers.

Other officers are Col Atwooki Birakurataki Ndahura, and Senior Police officers ACP Herbert Muhangi, ASP Richard Ndaboine, ASP Patrick Muramira AIP Jonas Ayebaza, and D/C Abel Kitagenda Muyomba.

The group, according to the prosecution, is accused of unlawfully kidnapping Jackson Kalemera alias Ndinga and (Lieutenant) Joel Mutabazi and delivering them to Rwanda without their consent.

State prosecutor Private Regina Nanzala said the UPDF Director of Prosecutions, Lt. Col Raphael Mugisha, sanctioned the withdrawal.
