Yesterday, Monday, 11th, the NRM Electoral Commission nominated Janet Adongo Rose Elau, the NRM flag bearer, to compete in the Dokolo district woman Member of Parliament by-election scheduled for March 21st.
Rose will be facing Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal the eldest daughter to the recently deceased area MP Hon Cecilia Ogwal who passed away on January 18th in India, losing a battle to cancer.
The nomination followed the fulfilment of the electoral body’s requirements, as confirmed by Mr. Ngobi Stephen Erikwaine, the Returning Officer for Dokolo district.
Accompanied by NRM’s Director of Mobilisation, Hon. Rosemary Seninde, and district party leadership, Mrs. Adongo expressed her priorities at Anwacibana Primary School grounds in Dokolo Town Council after her nomination. She emphasized her commitment to improving healthcare in the area and advocating for the elevation of a local health center into a general hospital.
Hon. Rosemary Seninde commended the peaceful conduct of the election process and urged NRM supporters to mobilize effectively for the upcoming seven-day campaign period. She discouraged voters from supporting opposition or independent candidates, citing potential drawbacks in resource allocation decisions.
The NRM Electoral Commission Vice Chairman, Hon. Arimpa John Kigyagi, expressed confidence in Mrs. Adongo’s candidacy and emphasized the party’s unity and commitment to her success. He assured locals of intensified vote mobilization and protection efforts on the election day.
The nomination rally was attended by Hon. Felix Okot Ogong, the Member of Parliament for Dokolo South constituency, and other district leaders. Voting is scheduled for March 21, 2024.
