Things Fall Apart! What Angered Beauteous Museveni’s Daughter Diana To Divorce Tycoon Kamuntu

By Frank Kamuntu

Diana, the last born of President Museveni confirmed last Saturday that she had parted ways with her husband and father of her three children, businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu.

The two had been together for nearly 18 years.

“I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children,” Kyaremera posted an Instagram story along with pictures of court documents confirming the dissolution of her marriage.

“As you all know, divorce is a very difficult thing, especially when there are children involved…”I ask that the public continues to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and that you will respect our privacy.”

The court papers showed that Diana and Geoffrey’s marriage was dissolved by the Principal Judge, Dr. Flavian Zeija, on February 17, 2022.

The papers further reveal that Diana hired her brother-in-law Edwin Karugire as her lawyer in the divorce matter.

Rumours started moving around the same time, when Diana filed in the National Identification and Registration Authority to have her name changed from Diana Kamuntu to Diana Kyaremera Museveni.

Diana serves as the managing director of Museveni family enterprises and supervises all private ventures of the first family.

She married Kamuntu on July 24, 2004, and they have three children, two boys, and one girl. In a previous interview, Diana recounted meeting Kamuntu at her sister Natasha Karugire’s home and instantly being drawn to his tall and handsome demeanor.

Diana has also pursued acting, notably portraying the First Lady in the Ugandan film “27 Guns,” directed by her sister Natasha Karugire.

Kamuntu, on the other hand, owns a procurement firm specializing in consultancy services for oil exploration companies in the Albertine region, with alleged interests in the Heritage Oil Company.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear what exactly angered Diana to divorce Kamuntu. Ugandans in response to the divorce confirmation, sent out messages of consort to Diana.

“I know divorce isn’t an easy decision more so if both parties have children together. But I pray God comfort’s this couple during this time,” wrote one Farid Koire.

One Marc Smiles wrote; “Sad news to see 18 years go down the drain.”

Sunday Sserunjoji posted, “It happens, marriage is trial and error. Hope both of them find peace and themselves one day.”
