Two security guards have been found murdered in Matungu sub-county in Kenya by unknown assailants.
In a statement on Sunday, March 31, Governor Fernandes Barasa said John Ngomere Nyapola and Humphrey Muyomi, were killed and their bodies dumped at Koyonzo market.
“I have this morning received disturbing news of the unfortunate killing of two security guards who were butchered while on duty last night by unknown assailants, and their bodies dumped at Koyonzo market in Matungu sub-county.
This inhumane and barbaric act has untimely cut short the lives of John Ngomere Nyapola and Humphrey Muyomi, both from Murabe village in Namamali ward, who were on duty fending for this families,” Barasa said.
Barasa asked security agencies to speed up investigations so that the assailants are arrested and charged in court.
He called on residents with any information that might help the investigations to pass it to the nearest police station.
“I vehemently condemn this incident and implore security apparatus to expeditiously conduct thorough investigations, apprehend and ensure the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice. I call upon anyone with leads that may assist in unravelling the whereabouts of the culprits to volunteer such information to the nearest police station,” he added.
Elsewhere, police in Juja, Kiambu County, arrested four suspects during a robbery incident at the newly established Midnight Gardens in the Kimbo area.
TV 47 reported that the robbers, armed with crude weapons, attacked the entertainment joint during the early morning of Monday, February 19.
Confirming the incident, Kiambu County Police Commander Michale Muchiri said the suspects tied the guard on duty with a rope before allegedly killing him using a power-enhanced metallic club.
Muchiri said police recovered crude weapons, including a jack with a resemblance to a gun, which they used to inflict fear among bartenders present during the 4am incident.
