Dr. Tom Okurut Former Director Of NEMA Is Dead

Dr. Tom Okurut, the former executive director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), has left an indelible mark on Uganda’s environmental landscape. His recent passing on Sunday afternoon at Platinum Hospital, Nakasero, Kampala, after undergoing brain surgery, has left a void in the hearts of many who admired and respected his dedication to environmental preservation.

Dr. Okurut’s tenure at NEMA, spanning from 2011 until his departure after a decade of service, was characterized by unwavering commitment and tireless efforts to safeguard Uganda’s natural resources.
