The no-nonsense Deputy RDC of Mityana district, Ms Prossy Mwanjuzi has ordered for the arrest of the two ring leaders who are said to have been inciting others to refuse to be enumerated in the ongoing national census.
Uganda commenced its National Population and Housing Census 2024 on May 9, and it will continue for 10 days, concluding on May 19, 2024.
The President of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, launched this activity on December 12, 2023. The census aims to collect accurate demographic, social, and economic statistics using digital technology.
However, this exercise has faced resistance in some districts like Luwero and Mityana where different sections of people give all sorts of excuses against this census.
In Mityana, RDC Mwanjuzi didn’t listen to their nonsense, when she learnt that some of the people had started chasing away from the enumerators, she put on her boots and swung into action to deal with them.
”I couldn’t listen to their nonsense, the government injected a lot of money into this census and then you start playing with it? Such will happen in other districts, but not Mityana,” vowed Mwanjuzi.
She clarified on the arrest of the two people for sabotaging government programs including a one Namuddu Irene who was allegedly demobilizing the census; ”Yeah it’s true I have ordered for their arrest and they are currently in police custody, tomorrow they will be arraigned in court and charged and people should know that such people actually if convicted will serve 6months.”
Mwanjuzi said when Namuddu refused to be enumerated, others in her village of Kiyogano in Kayondo zone saw her as a hero and also followed suit.

‘You Deserve A Promotion’
Due to her hard work and selflessness in monitoring government programs, Mwanjuzi is highly praised in Mityana for standing with the common wanainchi but also for supporting all those working hard to keep Museveni’s leadership unshaken.
A case in point is when Museveni Awooma hitmaker Nsereko Emma Munamasaka took her concert to Mityana. Our sources have it that this Museveni singer didn’t get any assistance from the NRM party stakeholders until Mwanjuzi came in to give him all the support he needed to have his concert successful.
”Mwanjuzi deserves to be called an immunized servant of NRM government because she is so unique. For example there other when she watched on the news that some people had refused to be counted, she immediately rushed to talk to them, she parked her car somewhere, like any tactical servant, then footed and when she asked them why they were not accepting to be enumerated, they all looked ‘angazi’ and immediately arrested them.” says a one Namusoke Jane.
Other locals praise Mwanjuzi for her transparent leadership, citing that corruption and land-grabbing cases have reduced since she was deployed in Mityana.
”This is the most hardworking D/RDC we have ever had here in Mityana. Fear someone who has no space for land grabbers, no mercy for corrupt officials and spends much of her time interacting with us the local people in villages. She is a unique servant and our prayer as people of Mityana is we want her as a full RDC,” said one resident Mutyaba James.
Mwanjuzi before being transferred to Mityana she was serving as Mbale Northern Division RCC where she left a huge legacy in fighting corruption and land grabbing.
