It was a thrilling moment for the Victoria University (VU) community when the Vice Chancellor Prof Lawrence Muganga met and interacted with Kenya’s first lady Her Excellency Mama Rachel Chebet Ruto during the Sixth Annual Women’s Conference that was held over the weekend at Kololo Independence Grounds.
This spiritual event that attracted over 70,000 women was organized Phaneroo Ministries International.
During the brief interaction, Muganga introduced VU to Mrs Ruto as one of the private universities in Uganda offering meaningful education through tech-driven programs that aim to shape learners into world-class graduates.
In a brief clip seen by Swift News, Rachel is seen standing at ease-attentively listening to Prof Muganga who goes ahead to assure her that Victoria University aims to restore the promise of higher education.

Prof Muganga Transforms VU Into Africa’s Technologically Leading University
At the helm of Victoria University, Prof. Muganga has pioneered innovative strategies to tailor education to the demands of the contemporary world, focusing on competence and real-world problem-solving rather than rote learning aimed merely at passing exams.
A significant aspect of Prof. Muganga’s reformative measures at Victoria University is the integration of virtual teaching and learning platforms. Recognizing the barriers that geographical and physical constraints can pose, the university has embraced technology that facilitates remote learning. This system not only allows students to engage in live video interactions with instructors but also ensures that the quality of education remains uncompromised, irrespective of physical attendance.
As we report this today, classrooms at Victoria University are equipped with smart boards, alleviating the need for traditional teaching tools such as markers and whiteboards, and streamlining the educational process. This technological advancement enhances the teaching experience, making it more efficient and interactive.
Prof. Muganga’s contributions to education reform are not just transforming Victoria University but are also setting a benchmark for other educational institutions in Uganda and beyond. His vision and dedication are preparing a generation of learners who are not just academically proficient but are competent human resources capable of leading and innovating in their respective fields.
