By Frank Kamuntu

The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has addressed his subjects through Zoom, giving them hope that his situation is not alarming and that he will return to his kingdom soon.

This follows public demands to know his whereabouts despite the Buganda Premier’s continues information about his health.

Through a short video of 2.15 minutes on Monday 1st July 2024, the King started by greeting all his subjects from Namibia where he is on holiday as guided by his doctors.

In the video, Kabaka went ahead to say, “We have spent some good time without hearing from you while following the doctors’ prescription who asked us to be away from work. Our health is steadily improving and I hope to comeback home soon.”

”We thank God who has kept us and Buganda kingdom at large and not losing hope in these trying moments,” the King added.

‘’We thank the Katikkiro, Ministers and Buganda chiefs for continuously serving the kingdom for the time when we are absent from our country.’’

“We are closely following whatever is going on. We thank the people of Buganda who have followed the norms and culture and as we say, our strength is in unity (Amanyi gaffe, gali mu kwegatta). We ask our people to stay united. God bless you all”.

The Buganda Premier has consistently provided updates on the king’s condition. However, each time he speaks, it evokes strong emotions among the people. The most recent update was delivered during the Buganda Lukiiko meeting.

The Kabaka’s address is anticipated to bring solace to the hearts of the Buganda people, particularly those who have anxiously sought information about his whereabouts on social media.
