10 Arrested Over Murder Of Two Juveniles In Sembabule & Eritrean National In Kampala

Police in Kabalagala have arrested two suspects on allegations of murdering an Eritrean national.

The deceased was identified as Hannibal Tewelde aged 30yrs, a refugee, a resident of Lukuli zone Lukuli Parish Makindye Division.

The suspects who are currently detained at Kabalagala Police station are; Siem Fustem, also an Eritrean national, a refugee, a resident of Lukuli zone Lukuli Parish Makindye Division and Henok Foto, also an Eritrean national, refugee and a resident of the same area.

It’s alleged that in the night of 07/072024 at unknown time, the deceased and the suspects were at My Place Bar within AD plaza Apartment along Kibuli road, drinking.

The suspects and deceased started fighting each other and he was hit on the head using a bottle of beer by the suspects.

Then at about 0730 hours the deceased was rushed to Nsambya hospital for medical attention by the suspects, upon their arrival he was pronounced dead and at around 0855 hours the case was reported at Kabalagala police station.

Police visited the scene and recorded statements from relevant witnesses. The body was taken to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem examination.

In a related incident, the Police in Greater Masaka region have arrested eight suspects and recovered the bodies of two juveniles. One was kidnapped on June 10, 2024, and the other on 02 July 2024.

Cases  of disappearance were reported at Matete Police Station in Sembabule District.

It’s alleged that while his parents were watching TV, a juvenile by the names of Asiimwe Julius,went missing on June 10, 2024, around 8:00 PM. His parents reported to police the next day (11 June 2024)

Later, On 03 July 2024, at an unknown time, another juvenile by the nes of Junju Andrew, 6 years old, was abducted on his way home from St. Herman Kasana Primary School, a short distance away from where the first incident occurred.

His aunt, Betty Zalwango, reported his disappearance to the matete police.

Police embarked on the tracing of the missing children. It was on 08 July 2024 that they made a break through and apprehended 08 suspects.

The suspects had earlier been demanding for ransom.

Their apprehension led to the recovery of the juveniles who unfortunately had been murdered and their bodies maimed and dumped in a pit.

The suspects arrested in this matter are;
1. Mutebi Isaac, 17 years old, a pupil at Kasana Muslim Primary School, Kasana “A”
2. Tumwebaze Elli, 18 years old, a student of form 3 at Matete Comprehensive Secondary School, Kiganda R/D, Matete Town Council
3. Nalukola Hassan (the main leader), 50 years old, a peasant from Kasana “A”, Matete Town Council
4. Sebunya Muhamed, 36 years old, a peasant from Kasana “A”, Matete Town Council
5. Amon Twinomujuni, 47 years old, a peasant from Kasana “C”
6. Muwonge Matayo, 48 years old, a peasant from Nakatoke, Matete Town Council
7. Musanje Ahamed, 29 years old, from Kasana “C”, Matete Town Council
8. Kasaga Peter, 45 years old, a peasant from Nakatoke, Matete Town Council.
