By Frank Kamuntu

Uganda Institute of Information and Communication Technology (UICT) seating guild president Michael Nkwanga held a charity visit to Nakivale Refugee settlement as part of his leadership cooperate social responsibility.

In the three-day charity outreach, he visited schools in the settlement, donating scholastic materials, inspiring young children and spreading HIV/AIDS awareness. The outreach was aimed at the promotion of education, peace and harmonious living.

On the first day, he visited Hope Centre Nursery and Primary School and Malenzi Nursery and Primary School. He noted that the children are willing and love to learn and that they can do more if they are supported.

“Amidst alot of difficulty and numerous challenges, there is unexplainable willingness and love to learn and attain education from these wonderful children. Alot of potential hidden within them and one would be amazed by the wonderful things they would do if only they were supported a little more,” he said.

Nkwanga says he is committed to serving and helping children achieve their goals. He says refugees are not any different; they have the same hopes and dreams like anyone else.

“Committed and dedicated to serve the children of the world, One Child at a time, One community at a time and to transform the actual reality of our people. Refugees are our equals, with hearts that beat with the same hopes and dreams as ours,” he said.

He adds, “They are mothers who yearn to nurture, fathers who strive to provide, sisters and brothers who laugh and love, and children who deserve to grow up with promise and possibility. But a cruel twist of fate has torn their lives apart leaving them vulnerable in a world that often seems indifferent to their suffering”.

Nkwanga has held similar outreachs in the past and he is looking forward to having many more in the future.
