22 Dead, 16 Injured In Grisly Accident After Bus Collides With Truck

Twenty-two people have been confirmed dead following a horrible accident in Santiago, Bolivia.

Bolivian police reported that the accident occurred on Saturday, July 20, on the highway between the Bolivian city of Patacamaya and the Chilean town of Tambo Quemado.

Qatar News Agency reported that the horrible accident happened following a head-on collision between a truck and a bus in the Bolivian Andes.

Police said 22 people died on the spot while 16 were injured, marking Bolivia’s worst road accident this year.

Government officials said 14 accident victims have been positively identified, some of whom are Chile nationals.

Traffic officer Nilo Torrico said a preliminary investigation showed that the truck had crossed into the opposite lane while trying to overtake a vehicle.

“This truck made a prohibited manoeuvre, and as a result, we have this unfortunate accident,” Nilo said,
Images of the accident shared online showed how serious the accident was as the bus with its front section shattered and the smashed truck.

Meanwhile, a fatality was reported out of an accident involving a train plying the Magadi-Kajiado Town route on Tuesday, July 9.

Over 100 people were on board the passenger train on its way from Magadi to Kajiado Town.

According to the deputy governor, it lost control and fell off the bridge at Duka Moja, Loodokilani ward, killing one person on the spot.

Sixty others who suffered minor injuries were treated at the Kajiado County Referral Hospital, with those with severe wounds referred to the Nairobi Hospital.
