By Frank Kamuntu

A sombre atmosphere has settled over the Mbaruk area, Kenya following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of a woman and her four sons.

The incident occurred when their Mercedes Benz car, driven by Christopher Ambani and en route to Nakuru, collided head-on with a lorry on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway on Tuesday, August 13.

Gigil area OCPD Jamlek Ngaruiya reported that the Mercedes car was overtaking in the wrong lane, leading to the fatal collision.

Ambani, believed by police to be a member and father of the family, sustained injuries and has been admitted to St. Joseph Hospital.

“The woman and the children died on the spot while Ambani was rushed to St Joseph hospital where he was admitted,” said Ngaruiya.

According to the truck driver, Morris Wahome, the personal car was travelling at high speed.

“Nilikuwa nimeovertake nikamhepa. Sasa akakuja pahali niko. Hapa kando ya barabara huku kwa nyasi. Pole sana,” he asserted.
