National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman for Mbarara District, Prosper Kururagire, has rallied leaders and voters across Western Uganda to turn out in massive numbers and deliver what he calls a “thank you vote” for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking ahead of President Museveni’s nomination and celebrations at Kololo Independence Grounds today, Kururagire revealed that he is mobilizing hundreds of supporters from across the western region to stand firmly behind the NRM candidate.

“For decades, President Museveni has dedicated his life to leading Uganda wisely, sacrificing his own comfort to stabilize the nation after years of turmoil under past regimes,” Kururagire said. “A thank you vote in 2026 is the least we can give him for steering Uganda toward peace, unity, and progress.”

Museveni’s Record of Achievements

Kururagire emphasized that despite what he described as “minor glitches in leadership,” President Museveni’s contribution to Uganda’s transformation remains unmatched. He highlighted several key milestones:

  • Peace and Stability: Kururagire Prosper says Museveni’s leadership restored peace after years of political instability and armed conflict, ensuring national security and territorial integrity.
  • Economic Growth: He says Uganda has maintained consistent economic growth under his government, moving from a shattered economy in the 1980s to one of Africa’s promising emerging markets.
  • Infrastructure Development: The NRM Mbarara boss adds that massive investments in roads, energy, and ICT have opened up rural and urban areas alike, linking Uganda to regional and global markets.
  • Education and Health: Further, Prosper says through programs like Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE), millions of children now access schooling. Expanded health infrastructure has improved access to services, reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.
  • Agriculture and Rural Transformation: Prosper adds that initiatives such as Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) have aimed to uplift farmers, while government programs promote commercial farming and agro-industrialization.
  • Women and Youth Empowerment: Not only the above, Museveni’s government has expanded opportunities for women in leadership and created youth-targeted initiatives to boost employment and innovation.
  • Regional Integration and Diplomacy: Finally, Prosper says Museveni has been a key player in East African Community (EAC) integration and a strong voice for peace in the Great Lakes region.

Kururagire says these achievements prove Museveni’s long-standing commitment to transforming Uganda socially and economically.

The Bigger Picture

“To me, what matters most is the bigger picture of stability, prosperity, and unity among Ugandans,” Kururagire stressed. “That is why we must stand behind President Museveni once again and ensure he returns to State House in 2026 with overwhelming support.”

As the nomination celebrations unfold at Kololo, NRM supporters from across Western Uganda are expected to join in solidarity, underscoring the ruling party’s resolve to maintain its dominance in the next electoral cycle.
