Jinja Top Education Bosses Arrested For Diverting UPE Funds, ‘Milking’ Millions From H/Trs

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit yesterday arraigned two Jinja City officials before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of Office.

The accused;

1. Mulopa Haruna- Education Officer

2. Ngobi Samuel- Assistant Sports Officer and;

3. Mutesi Amina- Principal Education Officer who is currently on the run abused their authority by ordering the diversion of UPE capitation grants to other activities in the city.

The duo irregularly ordered Head Teachers of several government-aided schools in Jinja City to make contributions from the UPE capitation grants to City Council activities and Sports workshops, which contravenes the UPE Guidelines and Regulations for handling public funds.

They were remanded until 28/08/2024.
