Breaking! Vasundhara, A 26yr Old Daughter Of India’s Billionaire Oswal Arrested In Uganda, Family Petitions Museveni 

She has been allegedly detained in Uganda since October 1, 2024. Her father, in an open letter to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, claims that his daughter is being denied basic rights, legal representation, and access to her family.

The Detention: What Happened?

According to EU Reporter, on October 1, Vasundhara was visiting an Extra-Neutral Alcohol (ENA) plant in Uganda when she was unexpectedly detained by armed men claiming to be law enforcement officers. She was reportedly taken without a warrant and without formal charges being laid. Several of her colleagues, including the company’s lawyer, Rita Ngabire, were also detained.Pankaj Oswal alleges that his daughter’s detention is based on false accusations made by a former employee of the Oswal family, who had allegedly stolen valuable assets and taken a $200,000 loan with the family as guarantors. In response, Oswal filed an urgent appeal with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, urging the UN to investigate the case and intervene.

Vasundhara’s mother, Radhika Oswal, issued a heart-rending public appeal to the Ugandan government, pleading for communication with her daughter. She expressed the deep emotional distress the family is enduring, stating, “This is every mother’s nightmare. My young daughter has been thrown into a foreign jail. She has been stripped of her basic human rights and her dignity. Vasundhara is an innocent bystander. All I want is her safety, and for her to be back in my arms.”In addition, renowned human rights lawyer Cherie Blair has taken on Vasundhara’s case. In a statement, Blair described Vasundhara’s condition as “a vulnerable young woman, far from home, suffering through a traumatic experience.” Blair’s firm, Omnia Strategy, has filed an urgent appeal to the UN, seeking immediate action for her release and due legal process.

Why Was Vasundhara Oswal Detained?Vasundhara’s detention allegedly stems from accusations made by a former employee of the Oswal family. This individual is accused of stealing valuable assets and taking a substantial loan for which the Oswal family had served as guarantors. Pankaj Oswal contends that the allegations against his daughter are unfounded and politically motivated, aiming to exploit her high-profile position in the business world.
