It was a thrilling moment for Kampala city and ghetto youths who gathered in huge numbers yesterday at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo for the bazzukulu sports gala event organized by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) headed by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo.
The event kicked off early in the morning with several teams locking horns, all yearning to scoop victories and tap into Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo’s goodies.
With over 50 teams on the ground, thousands of fans cheering in different stadium corners and different players tussling it out, all players yearned to end in the top spot.
The full-day battle ended with the crowning of the inaugural champions, Gulf City FC who beat Kimwanyi FC 2-0 in the grand finale.
Namyalo at this point handed over the trophy, cash prize, cows, and a brand new motorbike courtesy of Honda by Markh Investments to the winners of Gulf City. The runners up (Kimwanyi) also took home a cash prize and motorbike, and so did the second runners-up Butabika FC with a cash prize as well.
In her brief remarks, Namyalo urged the youths to shun idling and criminality, but use avenues like these (The Bazzukulu Sports Gala) to promote their talent, which can also be a source of earning for livelihood improvement.
The ONC Manager also promised to organize galas for other activities such as Boxing, Athletics, and Indoor games for full inclusivity of the Bazzukulu. All this is in line with the ONC’s efforts to bring back the youths to the NRM as per President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s directive to the Kyambogo office.
The same event was graced by Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda, and former Kampala Woman MP Nambi Faridah who were commended for working so closely with ONC to boost the economic empowerment of the youths.
