A tragic plane crash in Sao Paulo on Friday morning claimed the lives of two people and injured six others when a small aircraft collided with a bus along a bustling avenue. Local authorities reported that the crash occurred on Marques de Sao Vicente Avenue after the Beech F90 King Air, en route from Sao Paulo to Porto Alegre, went down.
The wreckage of the plane, which had caught fire upon impact, was found with the bodies of the pilot and co-pilot inside, their remains severely burned. The small aircraft plummeted into the busy street, crashing into a passing bus, sparking immediate concern for public safety.
Sao Paulo Governor Tarcisio de Freitas expressed his sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the heroic efforts of the fire department, which managed to quickly extinguish the flames and prevent further casualties. “This tragic event marks a grim start to the day,” the governor wrote on social media.
In the aftermath, a woman on the bus and a motorcyclist, who was struck by debris from the crash, were rushed to the hospital. Four other individuals on the bus suffered minor injuries, but the situation could have been far worse had it not been for the swift response from emergency services.
The authorities are now working to determine the cause of the crash, as the community comes to grips with the devastating event.
