NUP’s Fred Nyanzi Brought To Wandegeya Police After Days In ‘Missing Mode’

By Our Reporter

After days of uncertainty regarding the whereabouts of National Unity Platform (NUP) chief mobilizer Fred Nyanzi, it has now been confirmed that he is being held at Wandegeya Police Station.

Nyanzi was reportedly abducted on Monday at Makerere Kubbiri, with opposition officials accusing security operatives of orchestrating his disappearance. However, both the police and the army had earlier denied any knowledge of his whereabouts.

According to NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, security agencies have now admitted that Nyanzi was brought to Wandegeya Police Station by operatives from the Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATT) and the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).

“After denying that they abducted Chairman Nyanzi, who has been under incommunicado detention, we have just been informed that operatives from JATT and CMI have brought him to Wandegeya Police Station now. A regime that lives by lies,” Rubongoya stated.

It remains unclear what charges, he is facing.
