President Yoweri Museveni has made a bold statement ahead of the 2026 general elections: there’s no room for slumber on duty. The President has renewed the contract of Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, reappointing her as Senior Presidential Advisor – Political Affairs and National Coordinator of the Bazzukulu under the Office of the National Chairman (ONC). The renewed two-year term takes effect from November 14, 2024.
In a letter dated February 17, from the Ministry of Public Service, the reappointment affirms Namyalo’s central role in mobilizing grassroots support as Museveni prepares to defend his long-standing presidency.
“His Excellency the President has… directed that you be offered appointment on renewal of local contract as Senior Presidential Advisor – Political Affairs… and Coordinator of the Bazzukulu,” reads the appointment letter signed by Public Service Permanent Secretary, Catherine Bitarakwate.
A Bulldozer for the Ballot
Insiders say Museveni’s decision to retain Namyalo is anything but routine. According to a highly-placed source within NRM, the President has grown increasingly frustrated with party operatives who failed to deliver during the 2021 elections.
“Mzee is not taking chances this time. Those who were supposed to protect his vote were snoring on duty—literally. Others were loitering in Kampala, squandering resources. Now, he has brought back the ‘bulldozer’—Namyalo. She’s unbwogable, and he trusts her to get the job done,” said the source.
Namyalo’s fierce grassroots mobilization style and no-nonsense work ethic have earned her both loyal supporters and political adversaries. Since assuming the ONC leadership, she has turned it from a dormant desk into a national mobilization engine, famously popularizing the “Mzee Tova Ku Main” slogan to keep Museveni’s base energized.
Back in November 2023, Namyalo publicly called out “mafia ministers” within the system for trying to derail her empowerment projects. Her fiery response to sabotage attempts only reinforced her growing image as a political warrior willing to take on even the toughest fights inside and outside the party.
Despite the noise, State House sources confirm Museveni stood firmly behind her, impressed by her results, loyalty, and ability to connect with Uganda’s youth and urban poor—critical voting blocs in the upcoming election.
The ONC: From Office to Operation
Under Namyalo’s leadership, the ONC has transformed into a grassroots powerhouse. Thousands of youth and women have benefitted from empowerment initiatives that include skilling programs, business starter kits, and community-based livelihood tools like boda bodas, hair salon equipment, and welding machines.
This strategic approach has turned her into one of the most recognizable mobilizers in Uganda—often described by insiders as “Museveni’s field general.”
Political analysts say the ONC, now functioning more like a campaign command center than a bureaucratic office, is set to play a key role in Museveni’s re-election bid. Namyalo is expected to coordinate high-octane campaigns, especially in regions where opposition has gained ground in recent years.
Performance Over Politics
In an election season where performance will speak louder than promises, Museveni’s renewed trust in Namyalo sends a clear message: loyalty and delivery matter more than palace intrigue.
While Namyalo was unavailable for comment at press time, ONC spokesperson Mr. Kintu Moses played coy, saying he couldn’t confirm or deny the development, adding, “I’ll need to first verify with her before saying anything concrete.”
Still, the message from Museveni’s camp is loud and clear: those sleeping on duty will be replaced—those delivering results will be empowered. And Namyalo, with her grassroots grip and unshaken loyalty, is clearly seen as the woman to watch on the 2026 frontline.
