Outspoken media personality and political commentator Frank Gashumba surprised many Ugandans on Thursday morning after photos surfaced from what appeared to be his highly secretive traditional introduction ceremony in Sembabule District.
Though long known for fiercely guarding his private life, Gashumba gave the public a rare glimpse into this deeply personal moment by sharing a cryptic post online:
“Wanna thank me! Congratulations Umuvandimwe Original.”
The post was accompanied by striking photos of Gashumba dressed in Kinyarwanda traditional attire, smiling alongside family and friends—sending the internet into a frenzy and confirming reports of his formal introduction to his yet-to-be-identified fiancée, affectionately referred to as “Nabavandimwe.”
The bride-to-be, though not officially introduced to the public, is believed to have been present as part of the sacred rites.
Notable faces in the photos include Vice Chancellor Victoria University Prof Lawrence Muganga, prominent politicians, media personalities, fashion influencers, and Kampala socialites—many of whom attended the invitation-only event in full traditional regalia.
While no guest list was made public, the visual clues captured in the shared moments speak volumes about the calibre of guests and the importance of the occasion.
Gashumba’s decision to share photos has caught many by surprise, especially considering his previous criticism of marriage. In a widely-circulated interview, he once stated:
“I cannot get married. What would a woman bring into my life that would make me give up my freedom? When you marry, you’re expected to be awake all night addressing those bedroom needs, and I simply don’t have that energy.”
And yet, with these new images, Gashumba appears to be redefining his views on companionship and commitment.
The online reaction has been overwhelming. Fans, critics, and the curious alike have taken to social media to congratulate Gashumba, express surprise at his apparent change of heart, and — unsurprisingly — try to identify the elusive “Nabavandimwe.” Enjoy pics below;
