Actions, Not Empty Promises: Musherure Showcases PDM Successes, Pledges More Progress In Mawogola North

By Frank Kamuntu

As Uganda heads toward the 2026 general elections, Mawogola North Member of Parliament Shartsi Musherure Kutesa is seeking a renewed mandate from her constituents, citing a strong record of service delivery and a forward-looking development agenda.

During a recent tour of Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiary projects in Mwitsi and Kabarekera parishes, Rugushuru sub-county, Musherure observed significant progress in local livelihoods. She highlighted expanding coffee plantations, thriving goat farms, and growing poultry enterprises as visible indicators of transformation fueled by government support.

“I am thrilled to see the remarkable changes happening in our community,” Musherure said. “The PDM initiative has economically empowered residents and improved their quality of life. I thank President Museveni for his visionary leadership.”

Launched by President Yoweri Museveni, the Parish Development Model aims to drive economic growth at the grassroots by empowering agriculture and small businesses. Musherure has been a vocal advocate for the program in Mawogola North, helping mobilize community participation and ensure accountability in resource use.

Her 2026 manifesto aligns closely with the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) core objectives and includes key priorities such as:

  • Enhanced agricultural support through training and improved market access
  • Youth and women’s empowerment via entrepreneurship and vocational initiatives
  • Upgraded infrastructure, including roads and access to clean water
  • Strengthened education and health services through NGO and government partnerships

Musherure emphasized her commitment to both continuity and innovation. “I intend to build on our progress and find new ways to uplift every household in Mawogola North. With continued effort, we can unlock our full community potential,” she stated.

At a recent public rally at Sembabule Playground, President Museveni commended Hon. Musherure for championing wealth creation and lauded her leadership style as impactful and citizen-focused, contrasting it with empty rhetoric and token gestures.

He also highlighted the success of the Four-Acre Model and called for additional interventions, such as irrigation and pasture development, to secure food and animal feed during dry seasons.

In her response, Musherure thanked the President for transformative programs like PDM, Emyooga, expanded electricity, and piped water, acknowledging their impact while recognizing the need for continued efforts to overcome remaining challenges.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam Kutesa echoed her sentiments, praising Museveni for ensuring peace and stability and calling on Sembabule residents to support the President and NRM unity. He cautioned against internal party divisions, warning that such cracks weaken the party’s foundation and invite opportunistic infiltration.
