Opinion: Why Mr. Kimamati Paul Michael Should Lead NRM In Bulambuli District

By Geoffrey Bwayo

As Bulambuli district looks to the future, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairmanship role is crucial for shaping the area’s development. Mr. Kimamati Paul Michael’s the incumbent’s candidacy stands out due to his remarkable achievements and vision for the district. His journey from being an orphan to becoming a successful leader is truly inspiring, and his determination and resilience serve as a beacon of hope for many in Bulambuli.

This inspiring background is matched by his impressive track record of bringing significant investments to the district. For instance, he played a key role in attracting the Great Rivers Agro Industrial Investor to Bulambuli district. This investment promises to transform the local economy through an agricultural industrial park, a $100 million project in Bwikhonge Sub County, covering over 900 acres of farm land. The park will promote coordinated agricultural and industrial development, add value to agricultural products, and create real employment opportunities for the residents of Bulambuli.

The impact of this project will be felt beyond the economic realm, as it also includes plans for road opening and construction, drainage system maintenance, and electricity supply to the project and the surrounding rural area. This comprehensive approach to development is a hallmark of Mr. Kimamati’s leadership style, and it’s clear that he prioritizes the welfare of all people in Bulambuli.

Secondly, under Mr. Kimamati’s leadership, Bulambuli has experienced efficient primary elections over the last two terms, with his leadership being widely accepted and uncontested. This suggests that he has been able to bring stability and consensus to the political process in the district.

On the contrary, Hon. Mudimi Inyasio’s who is seeking to take the same leadership position, his approach to leadership is concerning, especially given how he performed during his infamous tenure as Vice Chairperson for Budget Committee in Parliament. Despite his positioning, there is nothing tangible to show that he benefited Bulambuli. Instead, there are worries about his lobbying efforts being driven by personal gain rather than the district’s needs as was seen in the cooperative compensation scandal.

It is further concerning that despite numerous cooperatives in Bulambuli, such as Buluganya GCS, Mabugu GCS, Bumasobo GCS, Buwokadala GCS, Bukhalu GCS, Busiya GCS and Muyembe GCS, only three growers’ cooperatives were selected to benefit from compensation. Given this context, all signs suggest he may not be the right leader for this role. It should therefore disinterest everyone that such leaders who focus on personal interests over genuine development projects must not be given chance.

Secondly, Hon. Mudimi’s inability to work collaboratively with fellow leaders, including Hon. Irene Muloni and Hon. Nangoli Gerald, raises concerns about his effectiveness as a leader. Given his divisive approach, it’s unclear what he would bring to the table as a leader, other than continuing to polarize the district. His leadership style seems to prioritize discord over unity, which could further fragment the district and hinder progress

In contrast, Mr. Michael’s approach to leadership is promising. His focus on development and commitment to transparency and accountability are evident in his actions. Mr. Kimamati’s candidacy offers a compelling vision for development and growth, and his proven track record of bringing significant investments to the district makes him an ideal candidate for the NRM chairmanship role given his ability to effectively lobby for Bulambuli’s interests

I respectfully appeal to Hon. Nangoli Gerald not to pursue his candidacy, given the current circumstances as some confusing elements are advising. I want to also specifically call on my nephew Mungoma Mike and my friend Walabukha not to be confused. This position of Party chairman was given to us as Lower Bulambuli. Any confusion may render the current status quo vulnerable. As you will find, up to 7 sub-counties in the Elgon zone have already rallied behind Mr. Kimamati, demonstrating a strong groundswell of support for his leadership.

In light of this, it may be wise for Hon. Nangoli Gerald, Mungoma Mike and Walabukha to step aside and support Micheal’s candidacy to avoid dividing the vote and ensure a stronger chance of success against the negative energy and challenges facing our district.

Let us rally behind Kimamati Micheal for peace and prosperity of our people.
