Namyalo Represents First Lady at MAU Skilling Centre Graduation, Rallies Luwero Youth on Skills, Patriotism and Support for Government
The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has officiated at the graduation ceremony of over 100 youths from the Muslim Ambassadors Uganda (MAU) Skilling Centre in Masinga village, Kikyusa Sub-county, Luwero District. She represented the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni.
The graduates referred to as bazzukulu completed a one-year certificate program in various vocational disciplines including tailoring and fashion design, hairdressing, plumbing, mechanical engineering, renewable energy technology, catering, agriculture, and detergent production.
Upcoming artists from the area used the event to express their admiration for the First Lady, noting her continued support for youth development in Luwero. One of the performers, Namyalo Birungo, entertained the crowd with pro-Janet Museveni songs, highlighting themes of peace, patriotism, and “Musevenomics.”
Local Leaders Commend ONC Empowerment Efforts
Nuru Kijambu, the NRM Chairperson for Kikyusa Sub-county, applauded Hajjat Namyalo for her consistent empowerment drives across the country. She said Namyalo’s leadership at ONC has made the office more visible and more accessible to ordinary citizens.
Barbara Katiti, the head of the Masinga Skilling Centre, said MAU now operates eight branches nationwide. The Kikyusa branch opened in April and is under the leadership of Principal Kasim Male. MAU, whose motto is “For Peace and Justice,” has grown to over 240,000 members nationwide, with its patron listed as Minister Lukia Nakadama.
First Lady’s Message: Skills Are Key to Jobs
In the speech delivered on her behalf, the First Lady noted that government remains committed to supporting skilling centres because of their role in combating unemployment.
She praised MAU for providing hands-on training that equips young people with marketable skills, adding that such initiatives contribute to financial independence and job creation. She encouraged graduates to apply their skills and become job creators rather than job seekers.
The First Lady, through her ministry, extended UGX 10 million to the Skilling Centre to support its activities. Namyalo clarified that the funds are part of routine ministry support to learning institutions, not a political incentive.
Namyalo: Luwero Needs Active Leaders, Not Complainers
In her own remarks, Namyalo criticised some local opposition politicians whom she accused of blocking government development programs and failing to advocate for basic services such as electricity, water, and better roads.
She said the area’s persistent underdevelopment is a result of leaders who “curse government instead of working with it,” creating a disconnect between communities and the national administration.
She also condemned individuals who frustrate ONC empowerment programs, noting that previous support provided to Luwero had been sabotaged by “ill-hearted individuals.”
Namyalo pledged that after the election period, her office will mobilize empowerment equipment for the graduates, but emphasized that she would not distribute such tools before elections to avoid misinterpretation.
Several speakers, including Luwero NRM Vice Chairperson Nakabugo Christine, urged residents to back President Museveni and NRM flag bearers, arguing that the party offers stability and a clear national vision.
Namyalo also rallied support for Museveni, advising residents to vote for leaders such as Agnes Kirabo and Gaddafi, whom she described as committed to national development. She warned that the opposition “has no clear future plan for Ugandans.”
Independent Aspirants Back Museveni
A group calling itself the Alliance of Independent Presidential Aspirants informed Namyalo that although the Electoral Commission did not clear them to contest in the 2026 presidential race, they are ready to support President Museveni’s candidacy. They asked for opportunities to contribute ideas to national development programs.
Principal Kasim Male highlighted persistent challenges, notably lack of electricity and water, which hinder training activities and local development. He asked Namyalo to forward these concerns to the First Lady and President.
Before the ceremony, Namyalo officiated at the groundbreaking for a new training block planned at the facility. She said government support for such initiatives is essential in honouring Luwero’s historical significance in the liberation struggle.
