Let NUP Not Intimidate You! Mbarara NRM Boss Prosper Tuhaise Rallies Ugandans To Turn Out In Large Numbers & Vote On 15th

By Frank Kamuntu

Mbarara, Uganda — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman for Mbarara District, Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire, has urged citizens to remain resolute and participate freely in the forthcoming polls on the 15th, cautioning voters against intimidation and fear as the country heads into a critical electoral moment.

Speaking to party supporters and community leaders in Mbarara, Tuhaise emphasized that voting is a constitutional right that should be exercised peacefully and confidently. He called on the electorate to turn up in large numbers and cast their ballots, stressing that no political pressure or intimidation should deter citizens from taking part in the democratic process.

Tuhaise is a well-known and influential figure within the NRM, credited with strengthening party structures in Mbarara and across the wider region. Using his own resources, he constructed a fully operational NRM office in Mbarara, a gesture widely viewed within party ranks as a sign of deep personal commitment.

His family’s history with the Movement is longstanding; his father was publicly praised last year by the NRM National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for his strong and consistent support during the party’s formative years.

A prominent businessman, Tuhaise is celebrated for his economic contributions to the region. He employs hundreds of Ugandans and other Africans in his various enterprises and is frequently described by local leaders as a major driver of employment and wealth creation in Mbarara. His success in business has gone hand in hand with community engagement, particularly initiatives aimed at empowering young people.

Within party ranks, Tuhaise is widely praised as a unifying force. Over the years, he has led reconciliation and mobilization efforts that have drawn many young people and former opposition supporters back into the NRM fold—efforts credited with consolidating Mbarara as a strong NRM zone. His close working relationships with senior party leaders, including strong ties with members of the First Family, have further strengthened his influence and reach.

As the 15th approaches, Tuhaise reiterated his message of unity and participation, calling on Ugandans to “come out peacefully and in large numbers” to support President Museveni and the NRM’s vision. He urged voters to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on the country’s long-term prosperity.

He appealed to political actors to respect the law and allow citizens to vote without fear, saying the future of the country depends on inclusive and peaceful participation.

“Uganda’s strength lies in its people,” he said. “When we turn up to vote, we shape our future together.”

Local NRM leaders say mobilization and voter education efforts will continue throughout Mbarara District, with a focus on maintaining peace and ensuring that residents feel confident to participate in the electoral process on polling day.
