Born Survivors: 19 Passengers Cheat Death In A Chilling Road Accident Involving Bus

By Frank Kamuntu

Nineteen passengers have cheated death after the bus they were travelling in overturned at Siwot along the Londiani-Muhuroni Road in Kenya.

In the Monday, July 3, accident, the driver of the minibus lost control and veered off the road before overturning.

Confirming the accident, Police Commander Geoffrey Mayek said the bus was heading to Kisumu from Nairobi.

Mayek said most victims suffered from general body pains and were rushed to Fort Ternan for treatment.

The driver of the bus fled the scene after the accident.

Londiani Junction Accident

The accident occurred barely three days after another one at the Londiani junction on the Kericho-Nakuru Highway, killing 52 people.

In the Friday, June 30, accident, a trailer heading to Kericho reportedly lost control and rammed into awaiting matatus parked at the junction, boda boda riders and roadside traders.

However, on Sunday, July 2, traders returned to the junction as normal, displaying their goods by the roadside.

Those whose stalls were destroyed following the accident were captured putting up new structures to house their businesses.

Amos Korir, a trader in the area, said despite mourning his friends, he has to continue with his business as he has a family that depends on him.

As reported, a trader dressed in a blue skirt, decorated hoody and a head wrapped with a yellow scarf painfully narrated her encounter with the Londiani accident.

She said operations were going on normally at their roadside market until they heard a loud bang.

Koskei said operations were going on normally at their roadside market until they heard a loud bang. Koskei survived the accident after the vehicles destroyed a line where five traders did their daily business.

“When I heard the loud bang, I lay flat on the ground. When I tried to escape, I identified a KPLC pole that stopped the vehicle from rolling over,” Koskei tearfully recounted.
