At the 4th National Agricultural Education Show (NAES) 2025, St. Kizito High School Namugongo stood out once again, presenting a range of groundbreaking projects aimed at addressing urgent local and global challenges. The school emerged among the top exhibitors, solidifying its reputation for academic excellence, innovation, and practical learning.

Held from July 6th to 12th, 2025, at the Jinja National Agricultural Showgrounds, the event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) in partnership with the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF).

This year’s edition of NAES aligned with the Ministry’s Competency-Based Lower Secondary Curriculum, which emphasizes Project-Based Learning (PBL) and the development of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and problem-solving.

As a proud participant, St. Kizito High School Namugongo joined over 100 schools and 200,000 attendees—including representatives from academia, government, and the private sector—in showcasing innovations, research, and practical solutions in agriculture and education.

The school’s participation reflects its commitment to sustainable development, applied learning, and community engagement. Under the leadership of Ms. Florence Nambejja, the school’s delegation displayed remarkable energy, creativity, and resilience throughout the week-long exhibition.

St. Kizito’s exhibition featured impactful projects that demonstrated how classroom knowledge can be translated into real-world solutions—particularly in environmental health, food security, and sustainable agriculture.

“The exhibition was a powerful learning experience,” said Ms. Nambejja. “Our students showcased exceptional skills and innovations that impressed institutions across all levels—from primary to tertiary. The practical, income-generating projects highlighted the importance of commercializing research and inspired other schools to advance their own technology transfer and incubation efforts.”

The exhibition also encouraged a wider reflection on how schools can better utilize internal capacities, especially in engineering and agriculture, to develop and scale prototypes for real-world application.

The school’s successful participation was made possible by the dedication and teamwork of both staff and students. “Our team worked tirelessly to prepare the exhibition materials, brand the booth, and deliver engaging presentations to guests and fellow students from across the country,” Nambejja noted. “The students played a central role, managing logistics and ensuring a seamless presence throughout the event.”

This achievement adds to a growing list of accolades for St. Kizito High School. During the National Science Week 2025, Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Monica Musenero, commended the school for its active role in promoting STEM education and innovation. She praised the school’s efforts in nurturing a culture of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, encouraging students to pursue careers in these critical fields.

Furthermore, in 2024, the school was named a finalist for the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize. The winners of the 2025 edition were announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, President of the United Arab Emirates, in a ceremony graced by President Yoweri Museveni.

With consistent recognition on both national and international platforms, St. Kizito High School Namugongo continues to set a benchmark in innovation-driven education and remains a beacon of hope for future generations.
