By Our Reporter

Uganda’s entertainment fraternity is mourning the unexpected death of renowned DJ and media personality, DJ Bush Baby, whose real name was Michael Owori. His body was discovered early Thursday morning in his recording studio located in Entebbe.

According to initial reports, friends found Owori after repeated attempts to reach him by phone went unanswered. Police were called to the scene, where they cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.

“We are currently treating this as a case of sudden death,” a senior police officer stated. “The body has been taken to the mortuary for a postmortem examination as inquiries continue.”

DJ Bush Baby was widely recognized as a pioneer in Uganda’s urban music scene, credited with bringing genres such as hip hop and R&B into the mainstream. His career took off in the late 1990s, most notably as a star DJ on Capital FM, where his innovative style and extensive global music knowledge earned him a devoted following.

In addition to his radio career, Owori was deeply involved in developing Uganda’s music industry. He mentored emerging DJs and artists, organized major music events, and initiated several projects aimed at nurturing young talent.

He also held media roles with Urban TV and Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), further cementing his influence in the country’s entertainment landscape.

Tributes from colleagues, fans, and fellow creatives continue to pour in as the industry grapples with the loss of one of its most impactful voices.
