Terrible: Armed Security Guard Kills Bugolobi Businesswoman After Minor Altercation

The Police at Bugolobi and Jinja road are currently investigating a tragic shooting incident that resulted in the loss of a life. On July 28, 2023, at approximately 9 pm, a distressing altercation occurred between a security guard, Aijuka Arode, employed by Security Plus Ltd, and a businesswoman, Mutesi Zainabu, aged 48, who operated a drinks and merchandise store within Bugolobi Market building.

According to Uganda Police, during the unfortunate confrontation, the security guard allegedly moved a distance of about three meters and fired a single shot at the store where the victim was situated. Mutesi was critically injured and promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Despite all efforts, she tragically succumbed to the injuries she sustained. Her body was respectfully conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for Postmortem examination.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says upon arrival at the scene, the Police observed that the suspect had fled with his rifle. However, through diligent efforts, ”we were able to apprehend the suspect today in the Morning, and he is currently detained at Jinja road Police. We have also successfully recovered the suspected murder weapon.”

Luke adds; ”Our dedicated team is committed to pursuing this case diligently, and we assure the public that every effort is being made to uncover the truth behind this regrettable incident. Further details will be provided as soon as possible, as the investigation progresses.”
