Cyprus International University Stretches Its Wings To Uganda, To Kick Off With Undergraduates, Postgraduates, Masters & PhD Programs

Cyprus international University has extended it’s foot prints into Uganda with undergraduates, postgraduates, Masters and PhD programs-Swift Daily News has learnt.

Speaking at it’s launch, Prof Majid Hashemipour, the Senior Advisor, Board Of Trustees of this University noted that 40% of it’s students come from Africa, and this is among the factors that triggered the university to extend it’s services closer.

He noted that education is key in determining and shaping the future of country’s economy, and believes that Cyprus’ contributions to quality education will eventually reduce on the unemployment burden in the country.

He added that the university will kick off with scholarships of up to 50% and even more especially to women.

In Uganda there are two types of institutions providing higher education today: universities and other tertiary institutions such as polytechnics and institutions of higher
education. In the first category, we have both state-owned and private institutions, the latter of which have emerged since the late 1980s.

Among the state-owned institutions, Makerere University is the oldest and was once one of the
most prestigious institutions in Africa but of course this alone can’t satisfy the huge demand Uganda has, therefore international Universities have also been introduced to improve on the the quality education given to the citizens, and that’s where Cyprus International University comes in.

“We are here to offer quality education that will help students start up thier own jobs and also be competitive in the job market,” said Prof Majid.

He added,”Our admission is free and we are also giving scholarships especially to women so that they are empowered. All you have to do is to login to www.ciu.edu.tr and register yourself.”

He further noted, “Cyprus International University also acts as a stepping stone to most students to Europe, Canada and others which have better job opportunities hence, improving on the financial status of the graduates.”

Ashley Ingrid, one of the students explained how easy it is to get admitted. “All you have to do is to login and apply for free, and get your self a 50% scholarship.”
