Details remain limited following a road incident involving a truck that reportedly veered off the road and overturned near the Nyakatonzi cotton ginnery, approximately 400 metres from the Kasese Roundabout along the Kasese–Hima highway.

The cause of the crash has not yet been established, and authorities have not released any official statement regarding possible casualties or the extent of damage.

According to an on-the-ground report, the truck, bearing South Sudanese registration number SSD 331D, was found at the scene but has since been cordoned off and placed under guard.

Access to the vehicle has reportedly been restricted, making it difficult for journalists and members of the public to obtain further details about what exactly transpired. As a result, critical information including whether there were injuries, fatalities, or mechanical failure remains unknown.

Eyewitness accounts and official confirmation are still awaited as investigations are expected to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.

The Kasese–Hima highway is a key transport route in western Uganda, often used by heavy trucks and cross-border cargo traffic, raising ongoing concerns about road safety and vehicle regulation compliance in the region.

Authorities are expected to issue a formal update once access to the scene is fully secured and preliminary assessments are completed.
